Bainswood House Retirement Village incorporates Bainswood House Rest Home and is a purpose built facility with 29 rest home rooms/ 15 serviced apartments of which 3 are double and 4 independent living Villas. We are located close to the main shopping precinct of Rangiora, and close to many interdenominational churches, as well as schools, parks, clubs, doctors and amenities.
This makes it easy for our residents to stay in touch with friends and family, as well as being handy to numerous facilities in our area, and helps them to maintain an independent lifestyle while receiving the best quality care.

As an Arvida village, we take care to listen and help residents to continue to enjoy the things they love to do. We also offer a one-on-one personal coaching programme that actively empowers residents to take charge of their own health and wellbeing.
Life at Bainswood House
At Bainswood House there is always lots to do. Activities play a very important role at our facilities and our Activities Co-ordinator is always ready to provide assistance.
A wide range of activities are offered five days a week including craft work, housie, indoor bowls, video sessions and organised readings. We have mini vans for outings which are always popular.
Frequent visitors to our facilities include school groups, singing groups and musicians.
Our library and in house shop trolley are also popular with our residents.
Bainswood House Retirement Village units are available under the "Occupation Right Agreement" (ORA). Bainswood House is a registered retirement village and is a full member of both the Retirement Villages Association (RVA) and the New Zealand Aged Care Association (NZACA). If you are 65 or over and you need further care, a Government allowance may be available to assist with fees in your Serviced Apartment. Work and Income New Zealand will explain the assistance available and eligibility criteria.

1. How does the Village Fee work?
The village fee is a set monthly fee that covers all the outgoings, including council and water rates, building insurance
and external maintenance, upkeep of community facilities, staff costs, gardening and management of the village. The
village fee is increased annually by the same rate at which your superannuation is increased. This will ensure that you are
protected from any increases in operating costs that are in excess of inflation.
2. Who pays for the refurbishment of the villa/apartment when I leave?
On termination of your ORA, Bainswood House is responsible for all refurbishment costs associated with your villa or

At Bainswood House we offer a full continuum of care so you can access additional care services while remaining in your
own home. We can assist with meals, laundry, cleaning, access to doctors and nurses and 24 hour emergency assistance
and the ability to transfer to our rest home or continuing care facilities.
4. Can my friends and family visit with me?
Yes, of course. When you move into Bainswood House we want you to maintain your family and social ties, and even
expand them! This is your home, so you can have guests over to visit whenever you like. It’s up to you.
