As an Arvida Living Well Community and South Canterbury’s most comprehensive retirement village, Strathallan offers every type of retirement lifestyle.

There’s independent living in attractive one, two and three-bedroom villas; semi-independent living in one and two-bedroom serviced apartments; rest home, hospital and specialised dementia care all in one place. A quiet position alongside beautiful Centennial Park in Gleniti ensures tranquility and birdsong, however Strathallan is also about getting more fun into your life. Our community centre, which is always humming with activity, includes a café, cinema, library, gym, indoor sports and hair salon. There’s also a swimming pool, spa, barbeque and golf croquet.

Everyday routines that embrace the best of South Canterbury life

Daily life at Strathallan includes many of the special moments that come with living in a village such as having a good conversation over tea and scones, enjoying the company of others or getting your hands thoroughly dirty in our community vegetable gardens.

To make it easy to stay in good health, we provide on-site access to a dietitian, ear health nurse, physiotherapist and podiatrist. Excursions in the community van help with shopping, tiki tours or day trips around Canterbury.

"People ask me what is Strathallan like and am I happy here. Well, it was the best thing I ever did. My property was too big to look after since my husband had gone into care.

I have everything I will ever need and we are looked after well. I go swimming every morning in the pool and then some of us go for a half-hour walk. Then it's time for a coffee in our lounge with other residents, who have become wonderful friends. It is good to have the company of others.

There is so much to do, like van outings for lunch somewhere, van to the supermarket twice a week and van to town twice a month. Entertainment is great, with a variety of people or groups coming to entertain. Happy Hour on a Friday night is a highlight, as it brings us all together to celebrate birthdays or other milestones in our lives, and then we enjoy a fish and chip tea.

The staff here are amazing, so if you are thinking of downsizing and wanting to share a great community atmosphere, I would honestly recommend Strathallan.

So, the question is ‘am I happy here?’

The answer is COMPLETELY." - Resident (Olive)
