Rest Home care
Our Rest Home has a dedicated Charge Nurse, Registered nurse, Enrolled Nurses and Caregivers. All receive training and regular updates. There are 34 Rest Home rooms, all with ensuites, and a small selection of premium or larger rooms if you prefer.
There are several lounges and small seating areas so that you can socialise or have a quiet read either inside or outside in one of the garden courtyards. We have an additional activities room where we do exercises four times per week, play bingo, bowls, do crafts etc. It has access to Sky TV and also contains a projector and large screen for movies.
Continuing care (Hospital wing)
The Wood has a 47-bed Hospital wing, all with large ensuites and well equipped with hoists, transfer aids and wheelchairs.
This wing has a large, dedicated and well trained team with permanent Registered Nursing staff including a Clinical Coordinator, Charge Nurse, Enrolled Nurses and Caregivers. In addition there are Physiotherapist and Diversional Therapy staff as well as the Chaplain, Priest and volunteers.
There are three lounges in the Hospital, the main one with a plasma television for events like the Rugby World Cup. A goldfish and budgie add to the homely feeling. You can indulge in a foot spa, manicure or take a wheelchair walk with one of the friendly staff. There are always crafts, reading, games or baking activities happening during the day and happy hour on Thursdays. In summer we have barbecues in the courtyard extending out from the dining room and enjoy the beautiful garden views.
