Bethlehem Shores achieves 7 Homestar Built Rating
Arvida Bethlehem Shores retirement community in Tauranga has reached a significant sustainability milestone.
The new Apartments and Care Centre in the retirement community have achieved a 7 Homestar Built Rating under the New Zealand Green Building Council’s Homestar standards.
The certification recognises the quality, sustainability and performance of the completed development at 141 Bethlehem Road, Tauranga, reinforcing Arvida’s commitment to creating healthier, more comfortable and environmentally responsible places for people to live.
Following a comprehensive independent audit, the achievement marks the culmination of years of planning, design and construction on one of Arvida’s most significant development projects. Officially opened earlier this year, the new Apartments and Care Centre completed a major expansion of the Tauranga retirement community, adding 53 independent living Apartments and 55 Care Suites in a purpose-built environment designed to support residents if their needs change over time.
Homestar rating assesses the health, efficiency and sustainability of homes, providing assurance that residents will enjoy warmer, drier and healthier living environments.
“This was an ambitious goal that we set at the start of the project and we’re very proud to receive this rating. Designed with sustainability at its core, the 14,000-square-metre building features a primary structure constructed from Cross Laminated Timber (CLT), an innovative and environmentally responsible building material that helped reduce construction impacts while supporting long-term durability. Wide landscaped courtyards, thoughtful orientation and extensive shared amenities were also incorporated to create a community that balances comfort, wellbeing and connection.
