Remediation Project

We want to let you know about an important project we're working through called the Holidays Act Remediation Project.

To comply with the Holidays Act 2003 in New Zealand, a number of businesses have had to revisit and review holiday pay calculations.

Holidays Act Remediation Project - October 2025 Update

We're pleased to let you know that we have now completed the detailed review and recalculations for the Holidays Act Remediation Project. This means we are ready to move into the next phase, which is remediating those impacted.

From mid-October to the end of October 2025, we will begin issuing remediation payments and/or additional leave entitlements to individuals if they are owed. As we've worked through this complex review with our independent specialist and the Labour Inspector from MBIE, we've found that the impact of the Holidays Act varies from person to person - depending on individual work history, pay, and leave patterns. For some team members, this may mean a larger amount than expected, some a smaller amount (for instance it may even be a few cents), and for others no repayments are owed. Please know these outcomes reflect each person’s unique circumstances and how the Holidays Act calculations have applied to them.

We understand you may have questions about what this means for you. To help, we have updated the attached FAQs document to help answer any questions as we move closer to the payment date in October.
