First resident moves into Arvida Lincoln Plains

A new chapter has begun at Arvida Lincoln Plains with the village for over-65s welcoming its very first resident.

Anton Ijsseldijk is the first to call the brand-new Arvida Lincoln Plains retirement community home, having made the move from Auckland to Lincoln. Anton’s arrival signals the beginning of a new chapter for the village, which has been taking shape on the Canterbury Plains over recent months.

Village Manager Leigh Tabak handed over the keys to Anton's new villa and says welcoming the first resident has been a special moment for everyone involved.

“It’s been wonderful to welcome our first resident to Arvida Lincoln Plains and Anton is already settling in well,” says Leigh. “We look forward to welcoming more residents as they prepare to move in so that we can support them to live life their way in a welcoming, connected environment.”

Arvida Lincoln Plains was officially named in 2025, with the name reflecting the vast and beautiful Canterbury Plains and the strong sense of community that is building within the village. Once complete, the village will feature 190 villas, a Clubhouse, workshop, swimming pool, library, gym, bowling green, and café.
