Orchestra strikes a chord in Queenstown
There were beautiful tunes and stunning views when the orchestra came to Queenstown.
Residents and guests of Arvida Queenstown Country Club retirement community enjoyed a musical performance from the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra (CSO) recently.
Expertly led by CSO Assistant Concertmaster, Sarah McCracken, a hand-selected quintet of woodwind and strings serenaded and entertained over 200 people (residents and locals), in the village clubhouse. The musicians had picked a selection of classical and more contemporary pieces of music for the crowd of over-65s.
“Thanks to some great teamwork between our residents and team, we had a fantastic morning hosting the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra quartet in the Clubhouse. It was wonderful to see such a strong turnout, with around 250 guests and residents enjoying the event,” says Arvida Queenstown Country Club Village Manager, Mike Clay.
The quintet of musicians then went on to engage with residents living in the Care Centre where they presented some musical exercises and fun. Christchurch Symphony Orchestra has had a long-standing partnership with Arvida for many years now and musicians regularly entertain residents in Arvida’s Christchurch retirement communities.
