Village Green and Fairy House opening at Lauriston Park

Lauriston Park retirement community celebrated St Patrick’s Day with the grand opening of new features - a Village Green and the resident-led Fairy House.

The new Village Green, officially opened by Waipa District Mayor Mike Pettit, is a versatile space designed for croquet, bowling, and putting, making it a hub for outdoor activities and social gatherings.

"It's absolutely wonderful to have these new additions to our community. They will create more opportunities for connection and enjoyment," says Village Manager Tanya Lindsay.

The Fairy House project was inspired by the removal of an elm tree for safety reasons. Once the stump remained, residents saw an opportunity and transformed it into a magical Fairy House and garden area.

This resident-led initiative took a year to complete, with residents’ dedicating time in the workshop to build the structure and carefully decorate its interior with charming, intricate details.
