Putting residents first every day in Queenstown

Fourteen years after moving into aged care from hospital nursing, Juliet Towers is leading one of Queenstown’s most caring communities as Clinical Manager of Arvida Queenstown Country Club Care Centre.
After Senior Registered Nurse positions in hospitals, Juliet dedicated her career to aged care in 2012 and made the move to Queenstown. She says great care starts with great communication.
“You have to be approachable. At the end of the day there are vulnerable people who need us. It doesn’t matter what your role is, it’s about being one team.”
Her approach centres on truly knowing each resident as an individual. “Everybody is different and it’s about getting to know who the resident is and was, particularly if they are living with dementia. They had a job, raised a family, whatever they’ve done in life is who they are.”
Juliet believes Arvida’s Attitude of Living Well™ wellness approach helps residents continue enjoying life on their own terms.
“It’s more like home and it’s about living. We’re having fun with activities and there’s always lots going on. We want you to be enjoying life.”
Whether that means choosing when to have breakfast, deciding how to spend the day, or simply feeling safe and supported, Juliet says the focus is always on helping residents live well. “We want people to continue doing what gives their lives meaning and purpose.”
It’s this wellness approach that makes Arvida Queenstown Country Club, on Frankton-Ladies Mile Highway, a place where residents can feel at home, connected, and cared for every day.
