Covid Update - Level 4

Covid Update - Level 4

The Government has announced today that New Zealand will move to Level 4 for 3 days.

The Ministry of Health has confirmed a new positive case of Covid in the community with the risk that it is the highly contagious Delta variant. On this basis, the Government has announced New Zealand will enter a Level 4 lockdown for at least 3 days.

As required, we are closing all Arvida villages and care centres to visitors until a change in Level 4 lockdown occurs. Only those families visiting residents in palliative or end-of-life care will be allowed entry after consulting with the Care team.

The following changes will apply from 11.59pm on 17 August 2021:

> No visitors to all Care Centre and Serviced Apartment residents

Visits to our care and serviced apartment residents will be restricted. This will continue until the alert level is reduced from Level 4. We strongly recommend all families utilise technology to keep in touch with loved ones during this period.

For the families of residents in palliative care or end-of-life care, exceptions can be made. Please get in touch with your Care team in advance to arrange a visit. Visitors will be health screened before entry and asked to wear a face mask, follow careful hygiene protocols and limit their visit duration.

> No visitors to all Independent residents

Level 4 measures require everyone to stay at home and remain in their household bubble other than for essential personal movement. While safe recreational activity is allowed in the local area, we encourage all our independent residents to remain within the village grounds. Our village teams will be doing everything they can to keep residents safe, entertained and in touch.

> Community centres are closed

Our community centres are closed for social and group activities and gatherings, either formal or informal. This includes all pools, gyms, libraries and cafes.

We expect to review measures again on Thursday, 19 August 2021.

Like you, we will be keeping a close watch on developments. In the meantime, we’d like to remind you of the steps you can take to keep safe:

  • Washing your hands regularly is still the best defence against the spread of viruses.
  • If you have any Covid-19 symptoms, please contact your GP or call Healthline on 0800 358 5453.
  • If you have visited a location of interest (listed on the Ministry of Health website) please call Healthline on 0800 358 5453 for advice.

We look forward to updating you with any changes and hope a return to normal visitation can happen shortly.

Thank you once again for your support and cooperation.
